Unit on Motion in 1D
Motion in 1D was focus on physics subjects like velocity, acceleration, time, distance, speed, position, graphs and interpreting slope. We did a whole bunch of mini labs and activities that taught us all about the subjects listed above. Some of the different labs we did were, the barbie bungee, moving man lab, race track challenge and many more. If you'd like to read about some of them you can go to investigations sub-page under Math/Science.
The 3 Key Ideas
These are 3 key ideas we used to help us understand velocity-time graphs and position-time graphs.
- The slope of a position-time graph tells us about an objects velocity.
- The slope of a velocity-time graph tells us about an objects acceleration.
- The area under a velocity-time graph (bound by axis and line) is equal to the displacement of the object.
