Greek Theater Play Project
Over the course of this project we learned about ancient Greece. We focused most of our studies on ancient Greek theater and its influence on modern entertainment. In this project we teamed up in groups and wrote a proposal, a script and a storyboard for an original Greek tragedy. Once we've done that we voted which play we liked the most out of everyone's. Then the play we chose became a big production and was used to compete against the other ninth grade classes plays. Each of us had a role to bring this play to life. Different roles were director, lighting and sound crew, actors, backdrop, set design and so many more. We performed our plays in front of a panel of judges, people involved in professional theater and some students, and they all gave awards to the four different plays. Awards included best supporting actress, best overall play, best backdrop, best costumes and many more. This year our play did not win best overall play which we were all really sad about. Even though we did not win, I loved this project! I thoroughly enjoyed this project. If we could do it again I definitely would!
My role for this project was director. I wrote the script along with two other partners who were also directors. Once the script was finished we worked on rehearsing with the actors, blocking, basically bringing what we thought of when we were writing the script to life. I also did stage crew, bringing all the props on and off stage.
