Cardboard Catastrophe Project
In this project we got to choose anything like a dinosaur or animal that we wanted to construct out of 3D cardboard shapes. Once we decided on our animal we drew a colored picture of it, basically like a blueprint. Once we had that we drew all the shapes we needed in order to make up our animal and wrote the formulas to solve for their area. Then we began to construct. I followed my blueprint but my idea changed halfway. I thought it looked more like a sheep than a dinosaur so I decided to change it. Once we had our animal complete we had to get the measurements of all the shapes we used to build it. We then found the surface area and volume of all the shapes and added them together to find our total surface area and total volume. Throughout this project I learned how to find surface area and volume of 2D and 3D shapes. This project was really fun because even though it required math we got to use our creativity to create our animal.
