#Selfie Project
Reflection
1. What was your initial thought of the Selfie project?
I was super nervous when Chris introduced the Selfie project because I didn't know how to use any computer programs like Illustrator and Photoshop. I thought that I was gonna struggle a lot and that I was going to hate my selfie and be really stressed throughout the time we worked on this project.
2. How did you feel about your Selfie and Adobe Illustrator after the first few days?
When I first started working on my selfie it actually came pretty easily to me. I didn't really struggle a lot until later but making the outline of my face and eyes was really simple. I was really proud of myself cause I felt I was doing really good when I thought I was going to completely fail.
3. How did you feel about your Selfie and Adobe Illustrator after you were done with the project?
Now that I'm done I feel pretty confident in Adobe Illustrator at least with the basics. I feel if I ever needed to use Illustrator for another project I now definitely have the knowledge of how to use it. I used to feel I didn't know how to use computer programs like Illustrator and now I can.
4. What helped you most in learning how to use Adobe Illustrator?
I'd say definitely my peers. Whenever I couldn't figure out how to do something there was always someone else who did know how to do it and helped me. They definitely supported my weaknesses in the program and helped me with critiquing; when I thought I was done they suggested improvements I can make.
5. What part of your selfie are you most proud of? What would you have liked to have done better? How were you challenged?
I'm most proud of my eyes, I put a lot of detail into them. I especially like my eyelashes they came out really cool. If I could have I would've done my nose better. I only got to make the outline of the bottom I would've wanted to add shading to the bridge of my nose to make it more realistic. I was challenged trying to make the shadows for the bridge of my nose. I tried to do it with the gradient tool but it looked really bad so I ended up just deleting it. My biggest struggle was definitely the gradient tool, I just could not get it right.
6. What did you like about the project?
I liked that this project was super open. The only standard we had was to make a selfie, as long as it looked like a face we were allowed to do pretty much whatever we wanted with it. It allowed us to be creative and really explore Illustrator with no guidelines.
7. How can the project be improved?
I think this project can be improved by giving more time towards the teaching of the more difficult tools like the gradient tool but I understand this was partially because Chris had a baby so its okay.
